March 2022 Liquid Net Worth and 107% YoY Passive Income Growth

Hello Friends! I can’t believe that Winter is finally over and Spring is here. Do you feel how time is flying?

Reminder: Sadly, we get older everyday. Have a plan to achieve your freedom faster.

Welcome back to another exciting Liquid Net Worth and Passive Income update via my Personal Finance Canada blog!

I hope you are enjoying my exciting reports which have been including my cryptocurrency incomes through Crypto Savings Accounts since May 2021.

March 2022 was a great month in terms of passive income and catching up with all time highs.

I didn’t have any new record but it was another great month in terms of making extra income from dividends and hustling around!

Gladly, liquid net worth recovered in March and hit new all time highs. However, I don’t care about how much money I have as long as the money is making money via dividends stocks and crypto savings accounts, correct?

Passive income number is the golden number to always pay attention to!

After having a wonderful 2 weeks in the Caribbean, I managed to get another couple days off work (and family) to do a Southern Caribbean Cruise trip. Feel free to read my Astonishing Royal Caribbean Cruise on a Budget trip report.

This was my first ever long cruise journey. Everything went as planned with minor rental cars hiccup, but I visited 7 Caribbean islands (5 new countries) in my 7 nights of cruising.

For 2022, I don’t think I will achieve my unrealistic $500K invested goal! But, who knows, right?

I also got into buying cryptocurrencies and stablecoins just before the big May 2021 crash which used to hurt. If you’d like to know how to start read my Complete Cryptocurrency Purchase, Exchange, Wallet, and ETF Guide.

Extra Side Hustle Income Report $1400

Frankly, counting the side hustle isn’t an easy job. I made a spreadsheet and record my income through this source but it is a hectic task with money coming from so many resources. I assume it is a good problem to have but still challenging.

Wealthsimple Cash referrals are still in hibernation mode. I was hoping to get more cashback but unfortunately nobody signed up. I am still thankful for the $220 I received in the past. You can read my Complete Wealthsimple Cash review and Guide.

Similar to Wealthsimple, I love Brim Financial and use it when abroad for credit card payments with no Foreign Exchange fees. I used it in many countries successfully. It also gave me access to free Global WiFi. Best part is that they pay me 500 ($5.00) points every year on my birthday.

My new favorite credit card is Neo Mastercard where I received 7.65% cashback by spending money in my local supermarket.

Current Non-Chequing Accounts

If you read my July report, you know that I got a $20,000 personal Line of Credit with 2.70% interest rate. I initially used some of that to earn Crypto interest. I am now leveraging $16,000 to receive 20% interest while paying 2.70%.

If you have been following my journey, you realize that I love my credit card.

This card gives me unlimited lounge access, covered Spotify and Netflix, and 3% cashback in $CRO on 90% of my purchases. Everything is paid back in $CRO and can be converted to $CAD or $USD or just staked for more interests in $CRO. The choice is yours. Why not joining and earn $25 in $CRO?

Honestly, CeFi (Centralized Finance) is as awesome as DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and both are making TraFi (Traditional Finance) looks so ugly (For now at least)!

I “thought” I have already maximized both our TFSA accounts but after getting an update from CRA, it seems my wife has another $7000 room so that is where my money is going this month.

I also contributed $5,000 to my kids’ RESP account. After maximizing my wife’s TFSA, I will start contributing to my RRSP.

Some of my Oaken GICs are maturing and in the process of moving them to Wealthsimple so I should have less Oaken and more Wealthsimple balance next month.

Current Investment Portfolio & a 4% MoM Liquid Net Worth Increase

It seems both Stock and Crypto markets are finally giving back some of the money they took away from my net worth in the past couple months.

My liquid net worth increased by $16,825 in March 2022. Am I worried? Not at all. Am I selling anything? Yes, only small positions to focus on value companies more.

Cryptocurrency Income

I am earning Cryptocurrency and Stablecoins income from 4 main channels which are Nexo, Cake DeFi, Celsius Network, and I will be having new streams in April as I am moving funds out of after they reduced the rates massively.

My holdings are 40% stablecoins ($TCAD and $USDC) which track CAD and US dollars and not impacted by any crypto fluctuation. The rest are cryptocurrencies like $MATIC, $BTC (Bitcoin), $ETH (Ether), $DFI (DeFi Coin), $NEXO (Nexo), $BCH (Bitcoin Cash), $CRO (Crypto).

I also hold two Crypto index funds which are Metaverse Index $MVI and DeFi Index $DPI. I stake this in a pool which pays me a variable interest ranging rate.

Calculating income and converting to Canadian dollar is a bit time consuming so I am mostly calculating my income from and Celsius Network while ignoring the small payout from Nexo and Cake.

The earning from Celsius comes every Monday morning. However, pays every 7th day of the date the term started. I now receive payments every day of the week. It is so addictive!

Liquid Net Worth and Extra Income Update Summary

To summarize, I made $1400 in side hustle income in March 2022. I also had $1,576.89 income from passive sources like dividends, HISA, and crypto earnings. I am moving forward with my cryptocurrency investment and ditching traditional banking systems especially for emergency funds.

This brings my total March 2022 extra income to $2,976.89 CAD which basically covers a lot more than our monthly expenses as a family of four.

My dividend income will keep growing along my Cryptocurrency income every month and I hope my income from these sources keeps surpassing an average $1,200 monthly. 2022 will be the first full year of focusing on passive income.

So far in 2022, my total extra income was $7,334 with $4,824 of it being totally passive which is $1,224 or 34% more than my set average goal for 2022.
