Hello Friends! This has been another great month for earning amazing passive income from dividends and Crypto.
The market hasn’t been doing well and many investors are in red for December but there comes the beauty of diversifying in more than the stock market!
Sadly, my Crypto portfolio lost $12,500 in value in December but my invested liquid net worth still grew by a tiny fraction despite the meltdown. Yes. Let’s get disruptive!
As many of you know, we had some fantastic traveling around for 2.5 months. And I set to yet another solo adventure trip for the 2 weeks of Christmas break starting by Guadeloupe island before visiting Dominica, St. Lucia, and Martinique.
The traveling’s spending made me worried that I won’t hit my already unrealistic 2021 goal of reaching $400K in investments. But the fears turned out to be a false alarm and I have already crossed the $400K milestone since last month despite the market’s trend.
In future posts, I am planning to write about my strategy on using different debit and credit cards to save on ATM withdrawal fees, foreign exchange fees, and most importantly travel insurance.
Welcome back to another exciting Liquid Net Worth and Income Update! I hope you are enjoying my exciting reports including my first cryptocurrency income in May 2021 Monthly Report.
In addition to my cryptocurrency stocks (ETHC & DEFI), I also invest in some exciting ETFs including HBLK which is a Blockchain ETF. Take a look at My Exotic Series of the Best ETFs in Canada to know what ETFs I buy.
I also got into buying cryptocurrencies and stablecoins just before the big May crash which used to hurt. If you’d like to know how to start read my Complete Cryptocurrency Purchase, Exchange, Wallet, and ETF Guide.
Feel free to read more about my journey from the beginning and how we started from zero just years ago by reading my post here. You can also find my first ever income report here Jan-Feb 2021 Net Worth and Income Update. In addition, previous months report are here.
Extra Side Hustle Income Report $1,345
Frankly, counting the side hustle isn’t an easy job. I made a spreadsheet and record my income through this source but it is a hectic task with money coming from so many resources.
I might miss some stuff while reporting but here comes what I earned in December 2021 in side hustle not counting dividends and savings earnings.
Here is the list of who paid me in December:
- $700 profit from selling electronics I purchased on auction and sold
- $60 from Brim Financial – $60 was from 3 new referrals paid in Brim Points
- $40 from Leo Surveys – Join Leo Surveys and start earning for your opinion
- $25 from Newton Exchange – Join Newton Exchange and earn $25 for the first $100 deposit
- $21.52 from Wealthsimple Trade – Join and earn 2 free stocks
- $3 from Wealthsimple Cash – Join & get a free $10 without the need of spending
- $150 USD in $BTC from Celsius Network
- $50 from Great Canadian Rebates – Join GCR and start accumulating cashback
- $200 USD Amazon Gift Card from the learn and earn program for IT professionals
- $5 from STACK – Receive $5 by activating your prepaid STACK card using my Stack Referral
If you have some extra change to spare, why not sending me some of it? You know it is going for a great cause of freeing someone and his family from the corporate world! Just do it, friend!
- Wealthsimple Cash: $Babylon
- Cryptocurrency: $ETH $USDC $TCAD 0xA2FA6728282d8c9f98a9fb1E4e906A294EbDEF06
- PayPal: firstname.lastname@example.org
Wealthsimple Cash referrals are still in hibration mode. I was hoping to get more cashback but unfortunately nobody signed up. I am still thankful for the $220 I received in the past. You can read my Complete Wealthsimple Cash review and Guide.
Wealthsimple Cash pays $10 for using my Sign-up link. You can then start inviting your family and friends to make some fantastic easy money. No deposit is required. You get the $10 as long as you never had a Wealthsimple Cash which is different than a Wealthsimple Trade account.
Similar to Wealthsimple, I love Brim Financial and use it when abroad for credit card payments with no Foreign Exchange fees. I used it in Greece, Turkey, Dominica, and St. Lucia successfully. It also gave me access to free Global WiFi. Best part is that they pay me 500 ($5.00) points every year on my birthday.
When it comes to Cryptocurrency, I had 3 new referrals for Celsius Network in December. This added $150 USD worth of Bitcoin to my Celsius account.
In December, I received another $50 by applying to a new credit card and using GCR (Great Canadian Rebates). I think every Canadian should be a member of this site. You can sign-up using my GCR Referral Link. Please note that GCR asks for a referral email which is email@example.com.
Current Non-Chequing Accounts
If you read my July report, you know that I got a $20,000 personal Line of Credit with 2.45% interest rate. I initially used some of that to earn Crypto interest. I am now leveraging $13K to receive 12% interest while paying 2.45%.
I will write a review about Crypto.com but I am in LOVE! 8% for flexible earn or 10-12% for 1 or 3 months plans. I also got the Crypto.com credit card which I think is one of the best cards I’ve ever had.
This card gives me unlimited lounge access, covered Spotify and Netflix, and 3% cashback in $CRO on 90% of my purchases. Everything is paid back in $CRO and can be converted to $CAD or $USD or just staked for more interests in $CRO. The choice is yours. Why not joining Crypto.com and earn $25 in $CRO?
Honestly, CeFi (Centralized Finance) is as awesome as DeFi (Decentralized Finance) and both are making TraFi (Traditional Finance) looks so ugly (For now at least)!
Wealthsimple Trade is Canada’s first $0 commission App.
Please sign-up using my referral code 8RR_5G to receive two free stocks.
To get up to $250 or a free month in Questwealth, please use my Referral QPass 646713816388276.
I maximized both our TFSA accounts. I also contributed $5,000 to my kids’ RESP account. I have already had the max 18% in my RRSP for some months now.
|Questrade||Robo||RESP||$50,397.76||Girl A & B|
I maximized my kids’ RESP. However, I still have some room for my wife’s TFSA that I need to maximize.
Did you notice the last row above? Yes, my Cryptocurrency went down from $84,405 to $72,302 which caused the total liquid net worth slow growth in December 2021.
Current Net Worth & a Small $1,430 Liquid Net Worth Increase
I think the Crypto bubble is bursting and we are seeing some extreme fear in the market. However, I will keep believing in investments in great companies and technologies including $CRO, $ETH, and $MVI index.
Despite, another $2100 of spending for my recent 2 weeks vacation, my Net Worth grew to $419,224.73 by Dec 31st, 2021. This is a small increase of $1430 MOM but I am still grateful for.
Looking at the chart, I love how we were blessed to increase our liquid net worth by 33.41% Year over Year (YoY) or $105,001 despite the heavy $20K spending on traveling.
Dividends & Savings Accounts Income
Since January 2021, I started calculating our income from dividends and savings accounts. You can also find my previous monthly Money Reports here.
I will not report detailed stock or ETF income here till it becomes more meaningful which will be Q1 2022. However, if you follow my journey on Twitter, I post whenever some interesting dividends land in my account.
Here are the numbers for 2021. Total 2021 income is $11,527.99. My goal for 2021 was to reach an average $1,000 monthly income. However, the average ended up at $960.67. I consider this a big success as I started my serious passive income investments since March and not beginning of 2021.
In addition, this number doesn’t count in the income from other resources.
My Stabelcoins (USDC and TCAD) and CRO investments keep generating over $500 monthly. As shown in below table, I hit a new record of $1989.98 in December 2021. This is almost all I paid for my 2 weeks Caribbean vacation.
|Month||Dividends||HISA & GIC||Cryptocurrency||Total|
I didn’t have any capital appreciation this month as $CRO value keeps declining after hitting ATH in November. The total crypto trend is kind of bearish but I don’t mind the correction thanks to the passive income.
My holdings are 40% Stablecoins ($TCAD and $USDC) which track CAD and US Dollars and not impacted by any Crypto fluctuation. The rest are Cryptocurrencies like $MATIC, $BTC (Bitcoin), $ETH (Ether), $DFI (DeFi Coin), $NEXO (Nexo), $BCH (Bitcoin Cash), $CRO (Crypto).
I also started buying Metaverse Index $MVI which tracks the metaverse creators and is growing exponentially. I stake this in a pool with $ETH and earn a variable interest ranging from 15 to 65%.
Here is the latest update I had of my Cryptocurrency portfolio. You can read more details about each account on my Cryptocurrency Portfolio & How to Earn 12% post. I need to update this post though.
Calculating income and converting to Canadian Dollar is a bit time consuming so I am mostly calculating my income from Crypto.com and Celsius Network while ignoring the small payout from Nexo and Cake.
The earning from Celsius comes every Monday morning. However, Crypto.com pays every 7th day of the date the term started. I now receive payments every day of the week. It is so addictive!
Last month, I was up $17,176.24 or 31.16% on my Crypto investments. Sadly, this is a huge decline comparing with November’s 55% growth but don’t we all expect the volatility?
Liquid Net Worth and Passive Income Update Summary
To summarize, I made $1,345 in side hustle income in December 2021. I also had $1,989 income from other sources like Dividends, HISA, and Crypto Earnings. I am moving forward with my cryptocurrency investment and ditching traditional banking systems especially for emergency funds.
This brings my total November’s passive income to a not so high $3,334 CAD.
My dividend income will keep growing along my Cryptocurrency income every month and I hope my income from these sources keep surpassing an average $1,000 monthly. 2022 will be the first full year of focusing on passive income.
